Q:
If I put an aftermarket exhaust on my motorcycle, why do I need
to have it tuned? A:
Anytime the airflow of an engine is changed (EXHAUST, AIR
CLEANER, HEADWORK, ETC.) it is necessary for the fuel to be
changed as well. Getting a proper fuel/air ratio is crucial for
proper combustion, heat management and of course performance.
Q:
How should I choose an exhaust for my bike? A:
At TPT performance is at the top of the list, but for others
sound or looks are more important. We can assist in finding the
right one for you.
Q:
Which type of tuner do you recommend? A:
At TPT we are capable of tuning your motorcycle with a Power
Commander, Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner or Direct Link tuner. We
prefer the SERT or DL because of its superior tools that aid
competent tuners in delivering the best possible tune. The PC is
nice in that it does the work for you, but it can easily miss
some areas that only a trained tuner can effectively adjust.
Q:
What is the right cam for my bike? A:
Cam selection depends on several factors:
·
How
do you ride your bike ·
Do
you ride two-up mostly ·
How
heavy is your bike
Generally a shorter duration cam with
minimum overlap will produce the most bottom end grunt that is
needed for the heavy or two-up bikes. If high RPM power is your
desire then a higher duration cam with more overlap is what you
need. This is typically for the lighter bikes. Every rider wants
peak power at different RPMs, so each build is designed to fit
that rider's style and need.
